Masterless Battle Jackets
The Masterless Battle Jacket is a DIY canvas to show the world your club ties and personal fencing story.
Club jackets were once available in our online shop, but the product was sadly discontinued. Members are now encouraged to create their own by adding patches to any black washed denim jacket they find.
Who can wear a Masterless battle jacket? Anyone who fences with us! Many mix and match our club patches with those of other fencing clubs, HEMA events, and other insignia.
Below are resources for building your own jacket!
FIRST: Source Your Jacket
One dope thrifting option is Ghost Town Outfitters. And there’s always Goodwill and St. Vinnies.
For buying new, here are some items very similar to the original jacket:
GAP Classic Washed Denim Jacket
This seems to be the identical product that was once used by our online supplier. Sadly, it’s $70. Link.
BoohooMan Black Basic Jacket
Is this the same as the Gap one?? Well, it’s much cheaper. Use the code SOCIAL10 to get it down to $28, plus shipping. Link.
Levi’s Relaxed Fit Trucker Jacket
The downside of this $62 jacket is the Levi’s branding on the buttons and left pocket. But the fit is nearly identical to our old jackets. Link
NEXT: Proudly tell everyone you fence with Masterless
The battle jacket is supposed to be a DIY declaration of your fencing journey. That being said, most of our members include the crooked crown skull patch used in the original jacket, sewn over the left side pocket. Here’s a collection of Masterless patches available for order (allow 1 week shipping):

Jacket Assembly Tips
When it comes to putting everything together, you have three basic options:
Sew on your patches by hand
Use pins to keep patches in place while you work, or a glue stick (it really works!)Use a sewing machine
And/ or attach patches with iron-on backing or glue
Cody swears by E600 adhesive, weighed down and left to dry overnight. His HEMA jacket patches were also added this way, and have held up for a full tournament season.
